There are several popular applications for barn door hardware. One example is for separating one room from another where before there was just an open doorway. For example an open passageway between a den and a hallway. Here barn door hardware can be used in a 2-door sliding system where the doors can slide into the open position unobtrusively or slide into the closed position to partition that room. Another use of the hardware has a smaller end application. It can be used for a unique and rustic window covering or for an entertainment center covering.
Nylon Sliding Door Hardware This type of hardware is the best choice for exterior applications due to its high weather resistant design. The wheel is made from a nylon/polymer material making it resistant to cold mildew abrasions and rot. It is also a very quiet rolling wheel which can make it perfect for when going in or out noisily would disturb someone or some event. It also comes in a rustic design perfect when you are trying to create that type of look. This line can be customized for interior or exterior jobs and has a lifetime warranty.
Additionally the vertical arrangement of the hinges causes an unequal amount of stress to be placed on the different hinges. This can over time cause the hinges to warp bend and even break if not properly treated. Also when a door is on hinges it must swing out over a large area to move into the open position. This can sometimes be inconvenient and tedious especially if youre trying to conserve on space. Flat track sliding door systems were developed as a solution to some of the problems larger barn doors were having. The door is affixed with two track hangers at opposite ends that hang on and roll along a large piece of track above the doorway.
