Last summer I had the pleasure of attending a magical, mystical, crazy-delicious, fun-filled, bootie-shake’n three day Hindu wedding outside Toronto, Canada. These pictures don’t even do it justice. I knew I wanted to post a few of them here, but wasn’t quite sure how. Though I love Indian food with a fierce passion, the traditional desserts are a bit too sweet for me.
Then comes Austin… Upon reading my favorite magazine (Sunset) earlier this year, I found a full-page spread on a San Diego guy making sauerkraut and other home fermented delights. I looked him up and attended a kimchi & kraut making class. I was hooked. Earlier this month I hosted a San Diego Food Blogger evening, with Austin as the guest of honor. He blew me away again, but this time with his Peach Chutney. Serve with a plate of warm, spicy samosas? Pure BLISS.
Check out Austin’s Fermenter’s Club and recipe on his website – HERE!

So bummed I missed the event! Sounds like it was awesome. I know really nothing about the subject, but peach chutney sounds delightful. And no, I’m not ready to let go of summer. I”m boycotting pinterest, etc as there is too much fall going around!!!
Kim- Sure hope to see you at something else around town. That would be awesome. Fall already on Pinterest! No.. Say it isn’t so. There’s still many weekends of ocean swimming to be had. Have a wonderful rest of your summer. And thanks a heap for stopping by.
Aren’t Indian wedding the most beautiful events? I totally agree about the desserts though… so clearly I need to check out this chutney.
Laura- I completely agree! I wish you lived in San Diego and could have come to the blogger event I hosted at my place. You would LOVE Austin. He make kombucha too!
Gorgeous photos. I’d love to experience a Hindu wedding. I bet it’s so interesting not to mention tons of fun.
Checked out Austins chutney – WOW! Too good.
Joanne- I hope you get to.. Nothing quite compares. Have you ever rented the movie, “Monsoon Wedding”? If not, please do.. It’s one of my absolute favorites. Thanks so much for stopping by!
Jenny! How cool…I certainly recognize some of these images and 1 awesome blue sari
Thanks for the anniversary wishes, can’t believe it’s already been a year. Of course we are honoured that you were present for our big day(s)…And I also agree with you about the desserts, though, if the food were as spicy in America as it is in India, the super sweet desserts would make a bit more sense! xo
Happy Happy Anniversary Meenal. XOXO
Love Indian too so thanks for sharing his site. And what a cool experience. I actually make my own Henna paste for fun and adorn myself inn the summer time.
Ohhh Miss Evelyne- You are RAD!
Great pics, my friend. ;-]
Thank YOU my friend!
Read the same article so how cool is it you had dinner (and classes ) with Austin. I also recently heard a great story about all things fermented on NPR. It was really interesting too. Love the Mehndi hands!!!

I wrote a comment earlier and it disappeared, apparently. Anyways – LOVE the pictures and this post. You have captured the essence so beautifully through the pictures. I wish I had seen this peach-mango chutney recipe earlier when my peach tree was bearing lots of fruits. But it’ll be one tasty chutney to go with some samosas!
Hey Snehal- Thanks so much.
He’s kinda cute too. GREG
Greg- You crack me up!! Thanks for stopping by.

Excellent post! I’m going to take down these recipes and take them over to Reshma’s house pronto!
I love, love, love Indian food, but I don’t think I could ever make a recipe for fear of knowing the content/calories may scare me away from such delicious food.
Terri- Thanks so much for stopping by…I’ve been begging Reshma to host an Indian cooking party. You will have to bug her too!!
Mmmmmm peach chutney wit samosa!?! OMG I’m going to go get some now from Nawab soon and make this chutney! Thanks Jenny
