There’s a lot of things that quiver my timbers, but cheese, glorious cheese? Preferably a ménage à six? Now we’re talking. I think I’d rather shoot myself in the foot, before I’d have to give up cheese. I grew up eating cheese balls at pretty much every holiday and summer bbq. Some say cheese balls are back in style. I say, they never went out. So give this bundle of love a try. Don’t you have some upcoming cookouts in your future? This may be your new aphrodisiac de jour.
My friend Darlene, the cutie from the blog My Burning Kitchen and the popular blog CHOW, inspired this layered Turducken of cheese balls. A big thanks to Bridges Magazine for publishing the story of my childhood love of fromage (Appalachian style).
p.s. what makes you quiver? Or should I ask?
p.s.s. recipe HERE!

The term “Turducken of cheese balls” makes me want to run out and make this right now. Brilliantly described!
Many thing make me quiver, none of which are clean enough to post here. LOL!
Laura – Ha Ha Gurrrrl! This is why we are blogging pals!
I gotta admit…Cheeseballs kinda scare me…However, knowing that the center layer is some creamy delicious mozzarella, I might be willing to work my way through one!
Miss Rachel- I’m agasp! You mean you are an Ohio girl and you’re scared of Cheeseballs???? Say it isn’t so!
So much cheese!!! I love it! I think I’m with you on the cheese weakness. Brie has recently become very dangerous for me.
Koci- I’m feeling you on the Brie girl. I love it melten inside of sourdough. My french friends make all kinds of fun of me for that one.
Had you posted this recipe earlier, I would’ve made it for the BBQ we hosted y’day. All the cheese goodness with herbs and garlic?? I gotta try it soon.
Snehal- I know you’ll have more BBQs in your future and I’d LOVE to see your spin on the recipe. Thanks for stopping by!!
Nothing made with glorious CHEESE can ever go out of style! My favourite secret ingredient? Lemon pepper…
Miss Trish- Thanks for sharing your secret ingredient. I must try lemon pepper with my next cheeseball. I remember having celery stuffed with cream cheese and just lemon pepper at Thanksgiving time when I was little. MMMM MMMMMM. Good memories. Thanks again!
Right on! It’s not a holiday without a cheese ball or two. There’s one with bacon that I get every year.
I made my last comment before looking at the recipe. BACON & BLUE CHEESE!?! How could that be anything but KICK @$$? You go girl!
James- This is why we are friends!!! Nothing bonds folks like bacon and blue cheese.
I love desserts and sweets, but cheese is a close second or maybe even a tie. This cheese ball sounds amazing. I’m so fortunate to have you as my neighbor and friend. And I’ll keep the secret of the delicious dessert you dropped off a few days ago. Couldn’t ask for a better neighbor, better friend or better cook.
Gary- I’m blessed to have you as a neighbor.
You described cheese perfectly. GLORIOUS! Nice homage to fromage!
Thanks June! That’s a compliment coming from a gourmet like yourself!
Turducken of cheeseballs! HAHAHAHA. I love that you lumped your love of cheese balls in with trashy novels. Missed your posts! This is a keeper for the holidays.
Mucho thanks Debra! I’m going to try to start posting more regularly
Gotta love you and your style! Just gotta!
Miss Nicole! Big smooches to you.
This is going to be my celebration food when I get off my current training regime!!!!!!!! DANG that looks good! Kudos to you Jen
Thanks Mitzi. What kinda training regime doesn’t allow a cheeseball? I hope you give it a whirl. Thanks for your kind email about the article too!
a ménage à six sounds absolutely amazing!!
Alexi- ha ha Ha hee hee! And I agree
Cheese balls — now that’s a blast from the past. But I bet you if you put one down on the table, nobody is going to pass it up. It’s a classic for a reason.
Carolyn- I couldn’t agree more! Cheese balls don’t last long.
Cheeseischrist…sounds amazing!
Miss Heather! Hilarious!
I agree, cheese should be ruler of the world. And that recipe is ultra retro chic. Ah the memories of youth. Right next to the tuna ball too.
Evelyne- yes! Let’s not forget the tuna ball and stuffed celery. Thanks a heap for stopping by!
I love cheese so much. Also, I love that glass with the pink diamond pattern – so cute!
Thanks Mary! That was a recent SCORE from a little vintage/consignment store in Oceanside. What a rush when I purchased it too. Thanks for stopping by!
I’m with you – just LOVE cheese. My favorite “quivering” cheese is pastry encrusted Brie, all warm and inviting, surrounded by an assortment of gourmet crackers and breads. Ahhhh… perftect!
Ohhhhhhh Joanne! Now I’m getting hungry x10. Love some warm brie; that’s always a hit and a half.
Jenny – I love cheese too…I don’t think I’ll ever really understand the vegan diet! Nice post, hope you had a fabulous 4th!
Thanks Meenal! My 4th was great. Lots of eating (as usual). Have a great rest of your summer in Charlotte.
I love cheese balls, although I never paid much attention to it until I had one made by the wife of my father-in-law a few years ago. I’ve been making a cheese ball a lot with her recipe, but I’m also ready to try a new recipe. Yours sounds absolutely delicious with so many different kinds of cheese!
Oh Reiko.. You let me know if you ever need any more cheese ball recipes. They’re a delicacy from my roots.
Oh, yeah, baby…I’m making your cheeseball for my next book club gathering…both gorgeous and delish!!!!
PS…love all the “quiver my timbers” examples…besides cheese, I have a weakness for gorgeous, high healed shoes that make my feet hurt :/
Liz- I wish I could be at your next book club. I’m sure you’re the life of the party!
Wow! Now that’s what I call a cheese ball!
Miss Kristi- That makes 2 of us!
Wow! That looks seriously delicious! I love cheese and any food made with cheese, haha
